Synopsis: Based on the true story about the famous murderers, ‘Burke And Hare’ follows the hapless exploits of two men as they fall into the highly profitable business of providing cadavers for the medical fraternity in Nineteenth Century Edinburgh, then the centre of medical learning. The one thing they were short of was bodies. ~IMDB

Thoughts: Andy Serkis and Simon Pegg teaming up to recreate the classic tale of Burke and Hare? Yes, please.  Andy Serkis doesn’t get enough screen time outside of doing motion capture for big budget movies (King Kong / LOTR). So it’s good to see his cheery face getting some screen time. There is just something about this pairing that really works well. The trailer sells them as an old irish dumb and dumber, only with a little more wit to them. My only concern is that the movie might get too wacky and will rely on gag jokes for laughs instead of flushing out the characters beyond the 2nd dimension, thus giving the viewer no real connection to the characters. But we shall see once the movie hits theaters.

Burke and Hare hits UK theaters October 29, 2010. There has been no release date set for US shores, but I am guessing we will see it hit our theaters within the next year. Starring Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, Isla Fisher, Tom Wilkinson, Jessica Hynes, Christopher Lee, and Tim Curry. Directed by John Landis.
