Kaboom Trailer
Synopsis: A sci-fi story centered on the sexual awakening of a group of college students.
Thoughts: Kaboom looks like a sort of hornier, more hipsterish (did I just make up that word?) version of Donnie Darko, except your Sci-Fi overtones are lacking in creativity and depth.
The trailer doesn’t give much to look at. It bounces back and forth between sexual content and it’s sci-fi elements. The sci-fi parts are all too vague and almost seem not thought out. Like the lack of clarity is just supposed to make it all the more compelling. But it doesn’t. The eye sore of it all is the terrible sets. They looks like a furniture show room.
And finally, is it me, or does it feel like the director only utilized one camera lens for the entire film?
Kaboom will be premiering at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Starring Thomas Dekker, Haley Bennett, and James Duval. Directed by Gregg Araki.
