Synopsis: Driver (RYAN GOSLING) is a stunt driver by day and a getaway driver by night. Doesn’t matter what job he does, Driver is most comfortable behind the wheel of a car.

Since he knows what a great talent Driver is behind the wheel, he either peddles him to film and television directors in the entertainment business or thieves who need an accomplished getaway driver, taking a cut for his own pockets.

Always looking to make a buck, Shannon’s current plan is funding a stock car that Driver can race on the professional circuit. Since Bernie Rose (ALBERT BROOKS) is the wealthiest guy he knows, even if the sources of his money are questionable, Shannon proposes he be their investor. After seeing Driver in action at the speedway, Bernie Rose insists Nino (RON PERLMAN) partners with them as well.

Primarily a loner and ambivalent about the deals Shannon makes for him, Driver’s world changes the day he shares an elevator ride at his apartment building with Irene (CAREY MULLIGAN). When he sees her again at the grocery store with her young son, Benicio (KADEN LEOS), he is transfixed, and willingly offers help when they are stranded in the parking lot because Irene’s car won’t start. Soon Driver settles into a routine of driving Irene to her waitress job and watching Benicio, entangled in their lives while her car is fixed.

This interlude in Driver’s life abruptly stops when Standard (OSCAR ISAAC), Irene’s husband, is let out early from prison for good behavior. Even though nothing has happened between Driver and Irene, Standard is threatened by another man’s presence in his family’s life. Driver backs off, respectful of Irene’s desire to keep her family together, but when he finds Standard bloodied and lying in the garage with a scared Benicio standing next to his father, Driver is embroiled even further in Irene’s life. Then trouble begins…

I Saw The Devil hits theaters March 4th, 2011 in limited release. Starring Byung-hun Lee, Gook-hwan Jeon, and Ho-jin Jeon. Directed by Ji-woon Kim.

No release date has been announced at this time for The Son Of No One. Starring Channing Tatum, Al Pacino and Juliette Binoche. Written and directed by Dito Montiel.

Thoughts: Haven’t seen the original Mother’s Day. So I know nothing about the plot aside from what I see in this remake trailer. That being said, I think the only redeeming quality of this trailer is the villainous mother herself. She looks like a perfectly normal mother, except she commands her two loyal sons to beat down whom ever she deems naughty. Fun concept, but I don’t have high expectations for the film. Reminds me of the film Funny Games.

Yea, totally ignorant of the original, but that’s all I got .

Mother’s Day hits theaters April 1st, 2011. Starring Deborah Ann Woll, Shawn Ashmore, and Lisa Marcos. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman.

Thoughts: An interesting trailer. The unique mix of rock and chaotic scenes showcased definitely give of some badass vibes, but a little more clarity on the relationship between the two main characters would have been nice.

No release date has been announced at this time for Carancho. Starring Ricardo Darín, Martina Gusman and Carlos Weber. Directed by Pablo Trapero.

Thoughts: Never been a Keanu Reeves hater. Personally, I think the dude’s bad acting wrap isn’t justified. He might not have range, but I have never thought he was a bad actor in what he’s played. That being said, I don’t think he was the right actor to pick for this role. All the characters around him are lively and somewhat ungrounded, while Keanu’s deadpan acting makes him look more like a side character. If the main character isn’t interesting, then something is wrong.

The concept advertised is unique, but Keanu’s placement is keeping me from wanting to see this.

No release date has been announced at this time for Henry’s Crime. It is expected to release in theaters this year (2011). Starring Keanu Reeves, Vera Farmiga, Judy Greer, and James Caan. Directed by Malcolm Venville.

Thoughts: Golden Slumber advertises itself as a gripping mystery thriller in this trailer, but I am not all that interested. I think the mystery of who is after the main character and why they are framing him is too concealed. I would at least like see the shoes of who ever is hiding behind the curtain. The whole “4 people connected by the Beatles song, Golden Slumber” is surprising and does peak my interest a little. But yea, still way to vague.

Thoughts: What a delightfully sharp trailer for A Somewhat Gentle Man. I had a few good chuckles watching this trailer. I cinematography and cast of off beat characters showcased blend together seamlessly. I really want to see this film. Shame it doesn’t look like it will be released in the U.S. I hope it at least shows up on Netflix.

Thoughts: The Fast & The Furious series is what it is. You either like it or you don’t. I am not a hardcore fan myself, but I recognize the series as fun popcorn flicks. People might complain that this continuation of the series is a bit much, comparing it to the over saturated Saw franchise, but I disagree. The Fast and the Furious series deserves more credit than that. And I hope that Fast Five proves that. I am excited to see this latest entry into the series just for the massive reunion of almost all the major cast from previous Fast films that is happening in Fast Five. The Rock, errr, Dwayne Johnson, looks like he is going to fit in well with the rest of the cast. It might be mindless, but Fast Five is definitely looking like a must see for 2011.

PS. Please watch this trailer all the way through for the LOL worthy safe heist scene at the end. It’s so ridiculous.

Fast Five hits theaters April 29th, 2011. Starring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Sung Kang. Directed by Justin Lin.

Synopsis: Charts the headlong fall of Pinkie, a razor-wielding disadvantaged teenager with a religious death wish.

Thoughts: Not sure what to make of this trailer for Brighton Rock. The movie is based off the novel of the same name by Graham Greene. It’s a bit odd. It looks like an unconventional romance thriller. I think their is more going on than what the trailer is showing. The cast performance put on display in the trailer looks amazing. Needless to say, the movie looks great. I just wish the trailer was a little more focused.

No release date has been set at this time for the U.S. Starring John Hurt, Helen Mirren, Andy Serkis, Sam Riley, and Andrea Riseborough. Directed by Rowan Joffe.

Thoughts: The Lincoln Lawyer trailer advertises an intense mystery thriller, but there is something lacking. Like why does an Matthew McConaughey’s character even get involved on a personal level with the mystery at hand? Seems like one scene he is telling Ryan Phillippe to play it innocent and the next he is desperately trying to unravel the truth behind the crime. One could argue all lawyers need to know the truth behind their defendant’s crime, but this trailer is definitely showing McConaughey’s diving deep into. I know this will all be revealed in the movie, but for trailer viewing sake, a little more info would be nice.

The last scene of the trailer made me laugh. It’s just so tense, yet we have no clue why. All we know is… SHIT IS SERIOUS UP IN THIS TRAILER!

The Lincoln Lawyer hits theaters March 18th, 2011.Starring Matthew McConaughey, Marisa Tomei, John Leguizamo, Ryan Phillippe, William H. Macy, and Michael Peña. Directed by Brad Furman.

Thoughts: I am undecided on this one. Some scenes of the trailer looked really cool and gave good vibes. Then some other scenes did the complete opposite. I mean, I liked what I saw overall so I definitely want to check this out. I just don’t have high expectations.

Red Hill is set to release December 2nd, 2010 in Australia. No US released date has been announced at this time. Starring Ryan Kwanten, Steve Bisley, Tom E. Lewis, and Claire van der Boom. Directed by Patrick Hughes.

Thoughts: Hobo With A Shotgun looks ridiculous and I love it. The low budget horror / grindhouse movie market is flooded with unfulfilling homages made by filmmakers trying to capitalize on the genre’s recent mainstream spotlight. It’s sad and frustrating. So it’s good to see the trailer for Hobo With A Shotgun actually show some promise. APPROVED!

Thoughts: This trailer for London Boulevard is entertaining but does not look like a must see movie. It borrows a lot of mafia drama elements from other movies of its genre. Movies that even have the same actors in it like Colin Farrell’s ‘In Bruges’ or Ray Winston’s ‘Sexy Beast’, ‘Edge of Darkness’, or ’44 Inch Chest’. Shit, Ray Winstone is like a mafia movie legend. Overall, this looks like a decent matinee flick.

No theatrical release date has been set for the US at this time. London Boulevard premieres in the UK, November 26th, 2010. Starring Colin Farrell, Keira Knightley, David Thewlis, Anna Friel, and Ray Winstone. Directed by William Monahan.

Thoughts: The trailer for Meskada is a good example of when a decent looking trailer gets ruined by narration that talks down to the audience. Meskada actually looks like an interesting crime drama. An appealing cast of B list actors and a town mystery compiled in a way that looks like it could be a decent drama. If it wasn’t for that damn narration. *sigh*

Thoughts: Nothing unusually or beyond the norm in this featurette. This is your standard movie theater behind the scenes preview that you always see before the trailers start playing. There is some interesting commentary that gets me a little more interested in the movie. It’s noted that the director is going for 1970′s revenge thriller homage, which is cool.

Thoughts: There are a few movie trailers out right now that revolve around families with a loved ones in jail. Edward Norton and Robert De Niro’s movie, Stone, is just one example which I just posted a few days ago. The Next Three Days looks to be a heavy contender that could give Stone a run for it’s money. Both movies have major star power with compelling story lines, but The Next Three Days adds some thrills and mystery into the mix, making it all the more appealing. Of course, I am speaking about the trailer. Not the movie itself :p
