Synopsis: Seventeen year old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is the spoiled, shallow and incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a goth classmate rumored to be a witch, as his latest target for humiliation. Unfazed by his cruel behavior, Kendra decides to teach him a lesson – she transforms him into someone as unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. Now he has one year to find someone who can see past the surface and love him, or he will remain “Beastly” forever. His only hope, an unassuming classmate he never noticed named Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens), may be his best chance to prove that love is never ugly.

Beastly stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Neil Patrick Harris. Directed by Daniel Barnz. Look for it in theaters March 18th, 2011. Beastly is adapted from the popular novel of the same name by Alex Flinn.

The Off Hours Featurette

Synopsis: A waitress working the night shift at a roadside diner in a small, industrial town becomes intrigued by a charming truck driver, while the diner’s owner struggles to keep his dwindling business afloat.

The Off Hours will premier at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Starring Amy Seimetz, Ross Partridge and Tony Doupe. Written and directed by Megan Griffiths.

Sucker Punch Featurette

Synopsis:A young girl is institutionalized by her wicked stepfather. Retreating to an alternative reality as a coping strategy, she envisions a plan which will help her escape from the facility.

Thoughts: Another great look at Zack Snyder’s Sucker Punch. This featurette does raise some questions though. Like, if the girls are imagining this fantastic world, where are they pulling it from? Not to stereotype here, but the cast of Sucker Punch don’t exactly come off as samurai / dragons / and futuristic robot fans girls. I just hope they give us some background on that. Like maybe one of them secretly reads comic books and hides them under her bed at the asylum.

Sucker Punch hits theaters March 25, 2011. Starring Emily Browning, Vanessa Hudgens, Abbie Cornish, Jamie Chung, Jena Malone, Oscar Isaac, and Carla Gugino. Directed by Zack Snyder.

I Am Number Four – Trailer No. 2

Synopsis: John is an extraordinary teen, masking his true identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already been killed … he is Number Four.

Thoughts: My impressions of I Am Number Four have not changed much from the previous trailers. This trailer makes the film look slightly better then the likes of a CW fantasy drama in the effects department, but not much else.

I Am Number Four comes out in theaters February 18, 2011. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Jobie Hughes and James Frey. Starring Alex Pettyfer, Timothy Olyphant, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand,Teresa Palmer, and Callan McAuliffe. Directed by D. J. Caruso. Produced by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg.

I Am Number Four Featurette

Thoughts: This featurette is putting more of a negative spin on the movie for me. It’s looking very cliché. Especially with the addition of the love interest who follows the movie’s hero with unquestionable loyalty. *sigh*

Tron Legacy – Featurette and Movie Clip

Thoughts: Tron Legacy is only a month away (as I post these clips)! My anticipation is growing and these videos are just making me more impatient. Arrgggg! December 17th couldn’t come any sooner.

Featurette: Faster

Synopsis: An ex-con sets out to avenge his brother’s death after they were double-crossed during a heist years ago. During his campaign, however, he’s tracked by a veteran cop and an egocentric hit man. ~IMDB

Thoughts: Nothing unusually or beyond the norm in this featurette. This is your standard movie theater behind the scenes preview that you always see before the trailers start playing. There is some interesting commentary that gets me a little more interested in the movie. It’s noted that the director is going for 1970′s revenge thriller homage, which is cool.

Faster comes out November 24, 2010. Starring Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Carla Gugino, and Moon Bloodgood. Directed by George Tillman, Jr.

Indie Bulletin: Featurette For ’95ers : ECHOES’

Synopsis: It’s the story of Sally Biggs, an FBI agent who has the power to rewind time. Her scientist husband has disappeared mysteriously, and the closer she gets to finding him, the more dangerous her life becomes. Surrounded by bizarre timespace paradoxes and hunted by terrifying forces from the future, Sally must discover the earth-shattering truth behind it all before her very being fades out of reality.

Thoughts: First of all, props to the husband and wife creating this movie. I think it is awesome that a couple with full time jobs and kids can still be as dedicated and determined to finish a massive undertaking such as a full blown sci-fi indie film. The film itself sounds a little bit like the Nicolas Cage flix, ‘Next’, but with more sci-fi inspired elements and larger scale (not in budget, but in narrative).

The Walking Dead – 17 Minute Featurette

Synopsis: The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the United States in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group’s desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive. ~ Wiki

Thoughts: Let me start off by saying, I don’t have cable TV. The reason I do not have cable TV is because I just watch all my shows online. Be it Hulu or any of the cable channels self hosted video viewing services, it’s just easier and convient for me to watch tv online instead of scheduling myself to watch it when it shows on TV. And having cable TV has proved to be distraction for me in the past. But after getting into The Walking Dead graphic novels (which are amazing), and seeing the many clips like the one featured above, I am really tempted to go order me up some good old cable tv so I can watch The Walking Dead when it comes out Halloween day. I love all things zombies. I love zombie movies, games, comics. I even made my own zombie costume for Comic-Con! So yeah, gonna have to break down and order cable. I can’t miss this show!
