Thoughts: Haven’t seen the original Mother’s Day. So I know nothing about the plot aside from what I see in this remake trailer. That being said, I think the only redeeming quality of this trailer is the villainous mother herself. She looks like a perfectly normal mother, except she commands her two loyal sons to beat down whom ever she deems naughty. Fun concept, but I don’t have high expectations for the film. Reminds me of the film Funny Games.

Yea, totally ignorant of the original, but that’s all I got .

Mother’s Day hits theaters April 1st, 2011. Starring Deborah Ann Woll, Shawn Ashmore, and Lisa Marcos. Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman.

Thoughts: I don’t know what to say. I am actually excited to see Scream 4. Scream 3 was absolute crap, and this trailer looks like everything I would expect from a reboot of the franchise, not in a good way. But I guess it’s the nostalgia of it all. Yes, I said nostalgia. I was just a little kid when the first Scream came out. It’s been a while.

Scream 4 hits theaters April 15th, 2011. Starring David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, and Adam Brody. Directed by Wes Craven.

Thoughts: The Task starts off looking like a mix between that horrible Halloween sequel, Halloween: Resurrection, and See No Evil. Wiki both of those if you don’t know em. I am not your horror movie historian, fool!

The acting talent looks really weak, but the trailer starts to shape up when we finally see the film’s antagonist. The warden. The name alone is scary enough when it is just a job title. Attach it to a sociopath, and it bumps the creepiness up tenfold. The trailer adds a great exclamation point at the end with a horrific sounding upside down kill. Watch the trailer, you’ll see / hear it. Gives me the creeps.

Thoughts: Husk looks like it’s channeling a slew of other iconic horror flicks. I get vibes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre mixed with Signs and Jeepers Creepers. One could consider this a bad thing, but I sort of like the mix. On the plus side, the trailer looks brutal, so if you’re a gore porn fan, then this looks like the movie for you.

Thoughts: This is the third film in the Tetsuo film series. Known for it’s hyperbolic / nightmarish visuals, the series has a sizable underground fan base. And if you don’t love Tetsuo, you probably hate it. I have yet to see any of the Tetsuo films, but I have seen a few clips of the first film, and it looks absolutely insane.

This is one of those trailers that really shouldn’t be rated. It’s for a very specific audience and has a very specific style that can’t be categorized with the rest of the trailers on the site.

Tetsuo: The Bullet Man has been circling film festivals across the world since 2009. No release date has been announced at this time. Starring Eric Bossick, Akiko Monô and Yûko Nakamura. Directed by Shinya Tsukamoto.

Thoughts: Wow, this trailer for The Resident had me laughing. So many dumb questions. I shouldn’t even bother to type out, but eff it. I am going to. Here we go.

1. Why does the trailer try to sell it self as a borderline paranormal movie? It’s not.

2. The old vulnerable girl in the bathroom gag? Really? Really? Wow.

3. When does home security actually send you instant messages on your computer, letting you know you have “new video recordings”. Why would there even be “new video recordings”? Wouldn’t the video just be a constant stream? To say “7 new video recordings” would mean the video is broken apart, and recorded in segments. Second, how would the security recording devices in apartment know what video clips to send you?

Holy crap, talk about dumbing down technology for your audience.

4. Why does this movie seem like propaganda advertising ADT security? “Single women living by yourself in the city? You know creepy men are stalking you around every corner, right? “. It’s a little much

5. Why are these creepers in the movie stalking Hilary Swank? Do they have nothing else to do besides sit in between the walls of her apartment, watching her bath? Are they that bored? Listen, I am not knocking it as a hobby, but these dudes are committed.

6. THE ULTIMATE question: Why doesn’t the girl just move the hell out? Oh wait, she got a good deal on the apartment. Of course it’s worth risking her life for. “BISH, I GOT A GOOD DEAL ON THIS! I Ain’t going NO WHERE!”

Bonus question: Why does Hillary Swank look so hot in this trailer? DAAAAAAYUM

The Resident hits theaters March 29th, 2011. Starring Hilary Swank, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Christopher Lee. Directed by Antti Jokinen.

Thoughts: Stylish and filled with glorious action sequences, Priest looks like a somewhat dumb but fun as hell to watch Summer blockbuster. I like the cast and I especially like the main villain played by Karl Urban. The movie definitely feels like a true to form manga adaption.

Thoughts: I think I laughed more watching this trailer than I usually do watching a trailer for an average comedy flick. The Ward reminds me of The Grudge and The Ring, meets american horror. And by American I mean the casting director inserted an attractive chick with perfect makeup / perfect hair / perfect build, that we are supposed to believe is just “another ordinary girl” that falls into a horrific scenario. What’s the deal with that? If your gonna cast a supposed beautiful babe into a horror film, cast a “DAAAMMMNNNN” babe, not a “oh, she could probably model for american eagle, I guess” babe. Just saying, the sex appeal is obvious, but they play it down. It’s an oxymoron that we, as an audience, keep buy into for some reason. “She’s HOT! But not no one in her world knows it…”

Anyway, trailer looks about what I would expect from a horror movie fresh out of the horror mold. Jump scares, quick scene flashes, 2-dimensional characters, and over branding of the directors name.

John Carpenter needs to not be named a “MASTER” of horror. He isn’t. He is a pioneer. Meaning he helped define the genre during his prime. But the genre has evolved since his time, and he hasn’t kept up. Movies like Let The Right One In, Daybreakers, and Paranormal Activity prove that horrors movies can be intelligent and character driven.

Now don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with the occasional dumb jump scare horror flick from time to time, but don’t go throwing the words “master” in the trailer and try to sell the movie as a ground breaking piece of horror cinema. No one’s buying it. We are just tolerating it.

Thoughts: I have been anxious to see the first trailer for Kevin Smith’s much anticipated horror flick, Red State. Now this isn’t really a trailer. Just a teaser. And it does a hell of a job teasing us. Who knows what this movie is about after watching this teaser. We know religion is involved in a bad way, and that is about it. Looks insane. Not a fan of this teaser but it does make me anxious to see the theatrical trailer even more.
