Thoughts: Naturally, TV spots are just shorter movie trailers, but sometimes they feature unseen footage. These TV spots for True Grit feature a bunch of new footage. Still bad ass just like the original trailer.

Cowboys & Aliens Trailer With Commentary

Synopsis: In Silver City, Arizona, Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city.

Thoughts: It’s not often we get to see / hear commentary (from the director no less) on movie trailers. A lot of trailers these days are being produced by studios that specialize making movie trailers. So it’s rare we get to hear the director’s 2 cents on the biggest influential marketing media that is attached to his (or her) movie. Cowboys & Aliens Teaser Trailer

Synopsis: In Silver City, Arizona, Apache Indians and Western settlers must lay their differences aside when an alien spaceship crash lands in their city.

Thoughts: This trailer does what a proper teaser should. Leaving the viewer curious and wanting more. Unfortunately there is significantly more cowboys than aliens in this trailer. I understand this is an old practice. Hide the monsters until the very last minute, but it’s the year 2010 people. We are not going to be in awe of your awesome CG aliens. You have a better chance of grabbing our attention by actually showing the creatures rather than hiding them.

Synopsis: A young police officer must survive his first day’s duty in a small country town.

Thoughts: I am undecided on this one. Some scenes of the trailer looked really cool and gave good vibes. Then some other scenes did the complete opposite. I mean, I liked what I saw overall so I definitely want to check this out. I just don’t have high expectations.

Red Hill is set to release December 2nd, 2010 in Australia. No US released date has been announced at this time. Starring Ryan Kwanten, Steve Bisley, Tom E. Lewis, and Claire van der Boom. Directed by Patrick Hughes.

The Warrior’s Way Trailer

Synopsis: The story is about an Asian warrior played by Jang, who is forced to hide in a small town in the American badlands. He meets the town drunk played by Rush, and a circus knife thrower played by Bosworth, both of whom have powerful secrets. ~ Wiki

Thoughts: This trailer for The Warrior’s Way definitely looks like a wild ride. No doubt about that. What is surprising is the excellent cast of side characters whom for the most part, are incredibly talented. So the surprise comes with their very presence in the movie. Geoffrey Rush? Sweet! What are you doing in this movie? The trailer blends a weird mix of surreal cg back drops with some incredibly bad ass action sequences. It’s like I am watching something from my Korean fantasy martial arts movie collection. The lead actor, Jang Dong-gun, who plays Yang, has that brooding silent but deadly appeal going on, but his lines are a bit distracting. I’ll be looking forward to seeing this.

Thoughts: As with most of the Coen brothers work (the directors of True Grit), the trailer for this movie gives me high hopes that this will be an amazing piece of work. Although sometimes that promise doesn’t always come through in full (in my opinion) with the finished product, the trailer for True Grit is just too freaking bad ass to not deliver the goods. Not to jinx it or anything…

Jeff Bridges was making me laugh with his amazing one liners during this entire trailer. I can’t wait to see this movie!
